The maths department’s top priority is fostering a can do attitude amongst our pupils to ensure that they achieve the best possible grade. The department comprises experienced, well qualified teachers with a strong record of excellent results – in 2016 41% of GCSE grades and 75% of A Level grades were at A* – A. We are proud that on average Greenacre pupils achieve one grade higher in GCSE Mathematics than predicted from earlier baseline testing (‘added value’) and that pupils enjoy Maths lessons and feel secure in the department’s expectations and support. Staff run clinics at lunchtimes to provide additional support to individuals as needed. Every girl has an individually tailored educational curriculum and early GCSE entry for some students helps to build confidence in Year 10.
A popular Maths Masterclass is offered to Year 5 girls at local primary schools during the Summer term.
