At Greenacre we believe that all students are entitled to an education that will enable them to develop their full potential, be that intellectual, physical, aesthetic, creative, emotional, spiritual or social, finding appropriate challenge in our learning environment. All students have individual needs, which put personalised learning at the heart of our teaching and learning.
Greenacre is committed to providing a suitably challenging curriculum, differentiated for all its students. In addition, we provide opportunities to identify and in turn nurture both those who are more able and those with Mild Specific Learning Difficulties.
The Learning Support Department is staffed by a qualified teacher who is also a fully qualified Specialist Assessor who coordinates Learning Support strategies in order to support each pupil with a Specific Learning Difficulty. This provision covers girls throughout the whole school providing important continuity and support. At Greenacre, pupils are taught in small classes throughout the school all of which are differentiated to support individual and/or special educational needs. These are monitored by the Learning Support Department.
Some SEND pupils may also require specialist support from the Learning Support Department. Specialist one-to-one lessons and help with study skills may be offered outside the normal curriculum. We can also offer a peripatetic Speech and Language teacher and a specialist Dyslexia tutor to work with girls.
Small group support is offered free of charge and arranged on a 6 weekly carousel so that girls do not miss the same lesson. These are based on the needs of the girls and are developed after consultation with subject staff. A lunchtime dyslexia support group is also available. Occasionally girls will also receive support in class. Specialist Teaching Assistants provide help to those that require it.
English as an Additional Language
A specialist EAL teacher is available to provide subject support and language tuition to ensure that pupils can cope with the academic and social demands of Greenacre.
