Languages at Greenacre
French is the main foreign language studied in school, beginning in Year 1.In Year 8 most begin Spanish as their second language. All pupils must study at least one foreign language for GCSE. In the Sixth Form French and Spanish are available at A/S and A2 level. French for Business is also an option for those who wish to carry on their study of a foreign language in a more vocationally orientated way.
Visits abroad are an integral part of the curriculum and we have links with a school in Calais. Our Spanish students also have the opportunity of going on an organised visit to Spain. Sixth Form students are expected to go on an exchange, attend a study course abroad or do work-experience.The languages department runs two international clubs for Yrs 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 students, and Lingualine, a helpdesk for all year groups.
