Alumni - GOGA
The West Country branch held their annual meeting on 11 May 2009, as close to the school's birthday as possible. Over 20 members, some of whom were among the first 'Greenacre Girls', converged on Sherborne in Dorset to exchange news and to enjoy a lively and entertaining lunch. It was such fun to catch up with our former pupils and to update them with news of the school. I was able to tell them about my plans for retirement after 19 years at this lovely school and to tell them about our delightful new Head, Mrs Lindsay Redding.
I was very surprised and thrilled to receive some fantastic gifts from this group of wonderful ladies, including a superb hand thrown jug with a hint of green in the glaze! Many thanks go to Val and Robert Thompson for all their hard work and enthusiasm in planning the annual get togethers, to Jan and Don Paine for making the 2009 meeting happen and, of course, to Peggy Williams for starting the whole thing off!
As promised you can see the photograph of the new patchwork (above) made by one of our parents to celebrate the 75th birthday. It has pride of place in the entrance hall. Look closely at the patchwork and see just how many Greenacre memories you can find. Watch out for our next reunion at Greenacre or call in and see us sometime.
